Another Summer Intensive Success Story

by Zoltan

Our very own Katie H. has completed a fantastic 5 weeks at the North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Intensive program. After auditioning in Orange County she was one of just 80 students from across the country to be accepted into this program for dancers ages 13-18.
Katie attended classes including Ballet, Character, Contemporary (Modern), Pilates, Yoga, Dance Composition, Hip-Hop and Repertoire.
The highlight of her experience was being chosen by the Contemporary choreographer to perform his piece in the end of session performance, in addition to dancing a Hip-Hop number.
Katie also attended a weekend workshop at ODC in San Francisco, Congratulations, Katie, on a job well done!

PBS Students Attend Summer Intensives at the Kirov and with the Rockettes

by Zoltan
Twin sisters Claire and Rachel recently returned from two extraordinary Summer Intensive dance programs. Both were chosen for these coveted spots through national auditions and talent searches.
Claire attended the Kirov Ballet School in Washington D.C.  She auditioned and was accepted by video doing a Ballet class with Zoltan and Pointe work with Carmela. At the Kirov, Claire’s classes included Ballet and Pointe, Repertoire/Variations, Lyrical, Contemporary and Pilates .
Rachel also was accepted via video audition. She attended the Rockettes Summer Intensive in New York City. Rachel’s classes included Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Lyrical.
Both girls thoroughly enjoyed their first dance experiences away. Claire is currently attending American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive in southern California. We can’t wait to see them back at PBS!

JulieWe are very pleased to welcome new instructor and professional dancer Julie Giordano to our teaching staff. Julie will begin teaching Pre -Ballet and Repertoire classes in September.

About Julie:

Julie was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her training began at three years old with Nina Marlow School of Ballet under the direction of Nina Marlow and Rena Becker.  Her classical and contemporary training continued at Master Ballet Academy under the direction of Slawomir and Irena Wozinak. Julie has attended summer intensive programs with American Ballet Theater Alabama, Ballet Arizona, Joffrey Midwest, Master Ballet Academy, Ballet Austin, and State Street Ballet. She danced professionally with Ballet Tucson and State Street Ballet. During that time, Julie performed in many classical and contemporary ballets such as Gisele, Swan Lake, and Graduation Ball.  Julie will be dancing with Menlowe Ballet starting in the fall and is very excited to be surrounded by a wonderful arts community in the Bay Area.

While in Santa Barbara, she taught at two different studios, Sino West Performing Arts and State Street Ballet. She taught technique ballet classes to kids and adults, as well as stretch and strengthening classes. Julie loves teaching and sharing her knowledge of ballet. She is very passionate about ballet and loves to share this passion with the young artists of the future. Julie is very excited to make the Bay Area her new home and to be a part of the Professional Ballet School staff.
