Who we are and what our mission is:

The purpose of the Professional Ballet School Dance Team is to provide additional performing and training opportunities to advanced students interested and/or focused in lyrical and jazz technique. Along with additional performing and training opportunities the Dance Team will represent PBS in community events. All dancers enrolled in the school may audition, but not all dancers will be selected for participation. The Dance Team’s focus will be to further challenge and support dancers who already dance at a technically proficient level and who show potential towards advanced level choreography and performance in lyrical and jazz. Along with technical proficiency and potential, dancers selected for participation will serve as representatives of the Professional Ballet School program and must commit to their required Ballet, Lyrical and Jazz Division level. Dance Team members must have exemplary class behavior, attendance, and attitude and are asked to represent our school in a positive light inside and outside of the studio.

Although the Dance Team will be focused on lyrical/jazz/contemporary choreography and technique our dancers must be strong in ballet. Our goal as a performing and competitive team is to represent PBS and its long tradition of high technical standards. Throughout the professional lyrical and jazz dance communities it is common knowledge that advanced dancers have studied years of ballet as a base no matter what their chosen style. Our goal for the PBS Dance Team is to provide sound training to all participants, and that begins with a strong ballet education.

Along with dancing we also provide a positive, fun, and supportive team experience! We work with team parents to set up team events and parties to allow time outside of training for our members to bond and form lifelong friendships and memories.

The PBS Dance Team is directed by Kristen Portner and coached by Kristen Portner and Camryn Kelly.
